Who Are You?

Who are you?

I’m not talking about your job, your education or relationship status. Not your fitness level or weight. Not who other people say you are. Not your “failures” or achievements…

I’m talking about who YOU are.

At your core.

Who are YOU?

This question spawned from my last blog post and the conversations it created around the primary theme of all my work, including my novel, And then She Flew, which is this:

Who we are AT OUR CORE - beneath all the crap that has built up over the years - is perfect and wise and powerful beyond comprehension.

Who you are AT YOUR CORE, knows EXACTLY what lights your soul on fire… and what you need to do to make it happen.

In case you missed my last blog post, this story perfectly illustrates this idea:

When Michelangelo was asked how he created his statue of David, his is response was this:

“It’s easy. You just chip away the stone that doesn’t look like David.”

He “saw” David inside that block. Even when his eyes couldn’t literally see David, he KNEW he was in there. He saw beyond everything that wasn’t David, and by chipping away all the extraneous stone, he was able to allow the world to see David too.

That’s exactly how it is with us. In order for us to see the REAL us, we need to chip away everything that is blocking her.

Yet the process isn’t “easy.”

It’s taken decades of outside influences (even well-meaning influences,) the opinions of others, self-doubt, responsibilities, traumas and so many other factors, to build up the stone that’s blocking the powerful, innate perfection of who we are at our core.

But identifying and chipping away at the things, ideas, people and everything else that isn’t true to who we are IS possible.

And it’s something we can do together.

Step by step.

Stone by stone.

One chip at a time.

So, for the next few weeks, I’ll be blogging about different areas where “stuff that’s not us” has built up over the years, and the ways that we can chip away at it. I’ll open up and share the steps I take personally, and the hurdles I’ve encountered as well.

I hope you will read the posts and find inspiration where you might need it.

At your core, you are powerful beyond your wildest imaginings. Everything you need to live the life that feels right to YOU is already inside you.

It always has been.

Xx Jen
